I started in IT: Nortel Networks, then IT Manager for a regional contractor. But asphalt was always the family trade. After estimating and managing paving projects since 2008 with A&B Paving and others, I've seen every way a homeowner can get taken advantage of.
AsphaltU.com exists because the information asymmetry between contractors and homeowners is massive. A paving crew knows every trick in the book. You're buying a driveway once or twice in your life. That's not a fair fight.
Everything on this site, the pricing ranges, the scam patterns, the questions to ask, comes directly from field experience. Not internet research. Not AI guesses. Real job files, real quotes, real contractors.

Why I Built AsphaltU
After watching since 2008 as homeowners get taken advantage of, I realized the problem wasn't bad contractors. It was bad information. Homeowners have no way to know what a fair price looks like, what questions to ask, or how to spot a scam.
AsphaltU exists to fix that. Every pricing range, every red flag, every checklist on this site comes from real field experience, not internet research, not AI guesses.
I do not take money from paving contractors to be listed here. I do not sell leads. I do not run ads. AsphaltU is independently funded so the advice stays honest.
That independence is the whole point. You can trust the numbers here because nobody paid to put them there.
