I started in IT: Nortel Networks, then IT Manager for a regional contractor. But asphalt was always the family trade. After estimating and managing paving projects since 2008 with A&B Paving and others, I've seen every way a homeowner can get taken advantage of.
AsphaltU.com exists because the information asymmetry between contractors and homeowners is massive. A paving crew knows every trick in the book. You're buying a driveway once or twice in your life. That's not a fair fight.
Everything on this site, the pricing ranges, the scam patterns, the questions to ask, comes directly from field experience. Not internet research. Not generic guesses. Real job files, real quotes, real contractors.

Why This Matters
Why I Built AsphaltU
After watching since 2008 as homeowners get taken advantage of, I realized the problem wasn't bad contractors. It was bad information. Homeowners have no way to know what a fair price looks like, what questions to ask, or how to spot a scam.
AsphaltU exists to fix that. Every pricing range, every red flag, every checklist on this site comes from real field experience, not internet research, not generic guesses.
I do not sell leads. I do not run ads. If a contractor pays for featured placement in the directory, that promotion is labeled and kept separate from the editorial advice on this site.
That firewall is the point. The educational guidance, quote reviews, and scam warnings are not for sale, and the directory standards are published in plain language.
